Divine Intervention

The past week and a half have been many things, but today, has been nothing short of a miracle.  After a frustrating week of promises to know more tomorrow....there was a miracle.  Last night while my mom and brother were at Madison's (his daughter) gymnastic practice, a mother of another gymnast asked my brother if he was o.k?  He said, actually no, I was just diagnosed with cancer, and it has been a frustrating week...well, before you know it, she called over one of the other moms...who happens to be an oncologist, she was talking to Troy and said, I know we have met before but what is your last name...Hischer, he said.  She said, oh my, you are my new patient tomorrow.  So, this parent of another gymnast happens to going to be his oncologist.  After talking to Troy last night, she said, she wanted him to go in that evening for IV's and she would call it in and have it ready for him at 7:00, it was 6:00 p.m..  She also said, Troy I want to see you at 8:00 a.m. tomorrow not 2:00, you are not going to wait any longer.  So Troy went to the hospital and received IV's for 2 hours....Troy then drove home and his new Dr. called about 15 minutes after he arrived home.  She told him that she had looked at his info. and wanted to admit him to the hospital at 7:30 a.m.. she said, we have to get down to business.....Miracle!!!  My mom and brother checked in at 7:30, my dad brought the kids to school.  They checked in, he was given a room on the oncology floor, they did an echo cardiogram of the heart, 2 bone marrow biopsy's-1 in each hip, put a PIC line in and started hydration and chemotherapy late this afternoon.  We learned more today, than we have learned in the last 3 months combined!!!! Troy has Diffused Large B Cell Lymphoma-he has a large cantaloupe sized mass in the stomach, pushing on esophagus and liver, he also has several baseball size tumors, one of which is pushing on his heart...but, we have hope.  The Dr. feels that we could see shrinkage of the tumors as early as Monday!  He will stay in the hospital until he is able to eat, which means the big tumor needs to shrink. Troy will undergo chemo for 1 day, then have three weeks off, then do it again for 7-8 cycles, which means about 24 weeks of treatment.  I just talked to my mom, he is sleeping while receiving his chemo, out like a light...good drugs I guess!!  So thankful that he/we received answers today, but, really thankful for the Dr.desire to help! I also want to say a special thank you to so many who are praying for Troy and my family!!
